Spanish airport operator AENA received bids from several companies to construct and operate the cargo terminal, located on Ramp #7 within the Air Cargo Center.The proposed design has import and export areas, and has areas for complementary cargo services, dock zones, manoeuvring and dolly yards, parking areas and administrative offices.
Enrique Vargas, General Manager of SAASA Global, said: “The contract that SAASA has won involves constructing a designated area for handling and self-handling, storage, transportation and distribution of goods and air cargo. This encompasses the preliminary project outlining the general features of the endeavour, with operational rights extending over a 30-year period.”
SAASA Global already operates four airports in Mexico, Benito Juárez International Airport, Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Zumpango de Ocampo, Adolfo López Mateos International Airport in Toluca and Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport in Mérida.
Vargas said: “SAASA Global provides services with the knowledge and expertise that we operate with in all our subsidiaries in Peru and Mexico, which has made us an integral part of the logistics chain for major airlines.”
